There are over 300 million websites and a countless amount of data online. Some of it is good, some of it maybe not so good, but without some sort of organization system we would all be lost in the shuffle. The main problem is there’s just too much stuff to sift through – it’s information overload.
Such was the task confronting TureFire as we decided to redesign the website recently. How could we help students better navigate their way around over 10,000 video guitar lessons, hundreds of guitar courses, dozens of online classrooms, learning paths, mobile apps, various learning tools and other supplemental educational resources?
We’ve spent decades building our vast library of content, and it was time to revisit and rethink our system of organization. We want to improve the user experience and make exploring TrueFire more satisfying and easier than ever.
So we took the TrueFire web design & development geniuses and sequestered them on an undisclosed island just off the coast and they went to work. Well it wasn’t long before we started to see the fruits of their sleepless nights! (OK, there were rumors that they were occasionally seen imbibing at the local night spot, often heard laughing maniacally well into the night. While these rumors are neither confirmed nor denied, hey, coding is hard work.)
What they have come up with is a much-improved and hassle free user experience with a new well-organized, easy-to-navigate menu bar. The new navigation makes finding what you need for your playing not only possible, but actually easy!
We also improved the layout of various webpages and made a few aesthetic changes in order clean things up and brighten the spotlight on our content. More white space and less clutter equals bigger smiles on the faces of our students.
And we’re not done. This is only the beginning of the process of enhancing the TrueFire online experience, so stay tuned for many more updates and tweaks to come. (Be on the lookout for big changes to TrueFire TV soon!)
As always, we deeply value the opinions of our students. It is your constant support and feedback that keeps us on-track, so please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments or email us!
