Upgraded Features and New Instructional Content Deliver Optimal Learning Experience For Guitar Players Worldwide

lotd-icon-2x-shad (1)Agile Partners today announced the relaunch of its Lick of the Day 2.0 guitar learning app for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. In collaboration with TrueFire, Lick of the Day 2.0 launches with twenty new TrueFire Lick Packs spanning 500 blues, rock, jazz, rockabilly and acoustic lick lessons. The new release also includes substantial new features, delivering a rich, immersive learning experience—anywhere, anytime.

Each TrueFire Lick Pack features 25 lick video lessons from one of TrueFire’s skilled instructors, along with matching interactive tab/notation, text narrative and backing tracks. Lick Packs are presented in sets of two volumes per genre, where the second volume builds on the concepts and techniques that were presented in the first. Additional TrueFire Lick Packs are already in the pipeline for release in coming months.

Lick of the Day 2.0 supports dual instructional modes to optimize the learning experience. In instructor mode, the student follows along with the instructor via video, with synced tab or music notation and a fretboard display showing the notes being played by the instructor. In practice mode, the student controls the tempo of interactive tablature playback and also has access to the backing track audio to practice what was shown in the video.

iPad_horiz_notes“With nearly 1.5 million downloads, Lick of the Day is Agile’s most-downloaded app for guitarists. We’re thrilled with the learning experience that the 2.0 update delivers, thanks to TrueFire’s outstanding content combined with significant feature upgrades,” said Jack Ivers, Agile Partners co-founder and principal. “We expect guitar students of all skill levels to find the new TrueFire courses a great value, since they provide an average of over 90 minutes of guitar instruction for under $5.”

Lick of the Day 2.0 is powered by the live tablature rendering engine from TabToolkit, winner of the Apple Design Award. Rather than displaying static tablature, Lick of the Day renders tablature dynamically, including realistic guitar audio and advanced features such as A/B looping and speed control.

“Integrating Agile’s toolset with TrueFire’s content puts what is likely the most powerful learning tool available today in the hands of guitar players worldwide,“ said Brad Wendkos, TrueFire Founder and CEO. “While the mobile learning experience is unparalleled, there’s also no better way to learn, practice and play in your own home. The convenience, utility and innovative features of these iPad, iPhone and iPod apps accelerate the learning process anywhere.”

Lick of the Day 2.0 is a free download on the iTunes App Store, and free Licks are available for each Lick Pack to enable guitar students to try out course content before they buy. Lick Packs sell for $4.99, but selected Lick Packs are available for a limited time at just $2.99 (US App Store pricing). Lick of the Day 2.0 requires iOS 6.0 or newer, and runs on any iOS 6 compatible iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.
