About Eric Gales
Eric Gales is a powerhouse blues-rock guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter widely hailed as one of the greatest living guitarists of his generation. A child prodigy who released his first record at just 16, Gales has since built a legendary career defined by electrifying performances, soulful expression, and technical mastery that blends blues, rock, funk, and fusion. Known for his fiery left-handed upside-down guitar style and deep emotional connection to the instrument, Eric has earned praise from icons like Carlos Santana, Joe Bonamassa, and Dave Navarro. His albums and live shows showcase not only virtuosic playing but raw honesty and passion, making him a true torchbearer of modern blues.
Gales’ relentless evolution took a cinematic turn in 2025 with Ryan Coogler’s vampire-blues horror epic Sinners. Sharing the soundtrack stage with Buddy Guy, he laid down blistering, thumb-driven leads that turned the film’s supernatural Mississippi juke-joint into a pressure cooker of Delta menace and redemption. The score’s raw authenticity amplified Michael B. Jordan’s twin protagonists and cemented Gales as a go-to voice for blending horror with roots grit.
That same fire earned him his second Grammy nod: Best Contemporary Blues Album for A Tribute to LJK, a searing 2025 memorial to his brother Manuel “Little Junior Kimbrough” Gales. Packed with reimagined hill-country stomps and guest spots from the likes of Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, the record is both eulogy and explosion, proof that Gales can honor the past while torching the future.
