On Episode 13 of Blues Chronicles, Reverend Jones tells us about Rev. Gary Davis, who was thought to be one of the great blues players inspired by Blind Blake. An ordained minister, Rev. Gary Davis favored big-bodied Gibson guitars, and wrote hits such as “If I Had My Way,” which was covered by the popular trio, Peter, Paul, & Mary. Davis passed down a musical legacy to his children and grandchildren, one of which is Reverend Robert Jones.
