Most guitar players know what these triads are and how they function. The idea is to use them in a way that can break the typical scale pattern funk that so many of us get caught up in. What make triads such a great musical tool is that they speak directly to the harmony and can also extend the harmony and create a different vocabulary to draw from.

In this lesson I briefly introduce them and share the shapes as well as how to use them over a basic ii, V7 progression. Practicing the shapes and doing them through the cycle of 4ths and 5ths will open up a new world of possibilities. Learning the triads all over the fretboard is a great way to increase your fretboard knowledge as well.

For the next lessons I will get into some other ways to use these shapes to create more melodic and interesting lines.
