In this lesson I take a look at a concept that I call Triad Stacking. This is taking those three note shapes and place them on top of each other which creates vertical movement on the fretboard.
The PDFs are written in the key of G Major and go through the diatonic positions with both triad shapes. If you look at these as a whole they create arpeggios of the chord scale with extended harmony. This can really spice up lines over open chords like “power” chords or even over major and minor 7 chords.
You can use a Dorian style jam or a chord progression such as A minor to Eminor to practice over. Take your time and you will hear that your lines will want to resolve in a certain way but use your ears and sense of taste to figure out where they want to go.
Until next time – Stay True, Stay on Fire!
