In this episode, I dispel the myth that learning music theory can inhibit your progress as a musician and make you less spontaneous or creative. I explain how music is a language. And, in order to use it, as with any language, you should learn the rules to have as a guide. Then, if you choose to, you can break them! I discuss how understanding music theory can expand your creative process. It can provide you many options for improvisation, and is vital in order to communicate with other musicians. The only rule should be: if it sounds good, it is good!
