In this video we expand on the concepts introduced in the Creating Walking Bass Lines 1 video lesson. We’ll explore three simple approaches to creating longer walking bass lines between chords: scale passages, scale passages with added chromatic passing tones, and enclosures. Once again, we’ll be using the IM7 VI7 ii7 V7 progression in the key of C but this time each chord change lasts for an entire measure of 4/4. A couple of well-known songs that use this progression include: “Have You Met Miss Jones” by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart and “The Song is You” by Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein.
