The worldwide community of guitarists and musicians is one of the main reasons why TrueFire is where it is today. With our students’ input and feedback, we stay motivated to continue to expand our library and improve our music e-learning experience. So, while we spend a lot of time highlighting our incredible faculty and content, we think it’s time to move the spotlight on some of our most passionate users.

In this Student Spotlight series, we’ll be showcasing a member of the diverse TrueFire community and sharing their thoughts with you. We hope you find yourself inspired. Ignited we stand!

Student Spotlight: slickedh

Your Name:

Eric H.

How long have you been a TrueFire Student?

2+ years.

Tell us a little bit about yourself as a musician:

42 years of playing guitar. My favorite music to play is blues,…that is what my ears like best and what they hear and my mind comprehends best, not because of the words, but because of the music. BB King is by far my favorite guitarist, but of course, I am fascinated by others, including Stevie Ray Vaughn, Freddie King, and Buddy Guy. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are my favorite band, not because of the band, but because Tom Petty rocks. I live in Frisco, Texas, north of Dallas.

What attracted you to TrueFire at first?

During the pandemic, I had to give up in-person lessons. I praise God that HE led me to TrueFire. It absolutely filled the gap, providing the training I needed and wanted on an unbeatable platform with seemingly endless options. TrueFire replaced the need for in-person lessons. I love how I get videos and tablature that I can always reference.

What are some of your favorite TrueFire courses or lessons?

All Corey Congilio lessons are my favorites. I have lessons from other teachers, who are great too, but Corey speaks my musical language better than others I have tried.

How has TrueFire helped improve your playing?

TrueFire has helped me improve my lead and rhythm guitar skills to the point that others have noticed my improvement.

Why do you use TrueFire, and how often?

I use TrueFire to provide focused practice and learning time, and I use it every week. Some days I sit and practice without opening the app, but that is because I sometimes need to practice songs for a particular event.

What is your favorite feature of the TrueFire learning experience?

Videos and tablature and the curriculum package are my favorite features.

Who is your favorite TrueFire Educator and why?

Corey Congilio is my favorite because he seems to have tailored lessons for my exact skill level and needs.

What would you like to see more of at TrueFire?

I would like to see more advertising. I have many friends who would benefit, and whenever I have mentioned TrueFire, they say they have never heard of it.

Any other comments?

I love TrueFire, and I am 100% certain that they provide exactly what I need to reach my guitar-playing goals.
