Redd Volkaert Guitar Lesson – Chickin’ Spittin’
This one I call “Chickin’ Spittin'”. It’s in the key of A, starting on the V – which means it’s E for two bars, then to the E for two bars on the I. It’s a little back-and-forth double stop move that’s lots of fun!
Redd Volkaert Guitar Lesson – Chokin’ Steel
“Chokin’ Steel” is in the key of A, over a I-IV-V progression. This is a fun one!
Redd Volkaert Guitar Lesson – Augie’s Waltz Lick
“Augie’s Waltz” is named so because it’s got an augmented in it. It’s in the key of G, and we’re going from the I to the IV to the…V! Surprise!
Redd Volkaert Guitar Lesson – Open String Rollin’ Lick
“Open String Rollin'” has some open, ringing Jerry Reed sounding stuff in it. It’s over the A chord, then the D chord, then the E chord and back to the A. It’s pretty straight ahead, and you can use it anywhere, especially in two-beat country songs.
Redd Volkaert Guitar Lesson – Calvin’s Fiddle Lick
“Calvin’s Fiddle Lick” is named so because I stole it from my buddy Calvin years ago. It’s a great funky, bass note thing that can be used in a 12-bar blues or a boogie-woogie. In this application, we’re going from the I to the IV to V and back to the I at a real quick tempo. See if you can get this one!
